Ambleside on an Angle

Built on a steep trapezoidal West Vancouver lot with a 15-foot slope, this three-storey home makes smart use of space, light, and every inch of its complicated and challenging site. The terraced landscaping includes concrete planters, a pocket-sized putting green, Italian slab benches, and patios that capture wide ocean views in spite of its narrow footprint. Inside, a central floating wood staircase, frameless glass railings, and Italian slab finishes anchor the design. The kitchen features a quartz waterfall island, custom cabinetry, and Miele appliances, while the master suite combines ocean views with a custom ensuite and walk-in closet. Step Code 5 construction, Euroline windows, radiant heating, and an ICF foundation ensure efficiency, comfort, and long-lasting performance.

We produced a comprehensive, multi-year awards strategy for this project and photographed it in early fall, mere weeks before the 2025 Georgie Awards deadline. Due to its challenging site and tight timing, this project required a combination of aerial mast and drone photography for the exteriors, as well as our trademark medium format digital work to capture the subtlety and elegance of this project’s use of materials and lighting.
